Apropos Public API
The Apropos Public API lets your applications read and manage your organization's customers, proposals, and catalog items programmatically. This is useful if you want to integrate Apropos with other apps or processes such as through Zapier, Make, n8n, Pabbly Connect, and more.
Create an API key
API access requires the Team plan, and only organization admins can create keys. In Settings → API Keys, click Create key and give the key a name. The raw secret is shown only once; only a hash is stored, so a lost key cannot be retrieved and must be revoked and recreated.
Authenticate requests
Every request must include a live API key in the Authorization header as a Bearer token:
Authorization: Bearer ak_live_<secret>API keys start with the ak_live_ prefix followed by 64 hexadecimal characters. Keys are scoped to your organization, and every customer, proposal, and item query is limited to that organization's data. v1 has no API-key scopes: a valid key has full Public API access for its organization.
Make your first request
All routes are served from the base URL https://api.sendapropos.com/v1. This example lists your customers:
curl -H "Authorization: Bearer ak_live_..." \
"https://api.sendapropos.com/v1/customers"All responses are JSON. Each API key is limited to 100 requests per 60 seconds; when the limit is exceeded, the API returns HTTP 429 with a Retry-After: 60 header.
What you can do with the API
The Public API covers three resources. Each endpoint has its own article with request and response details:
Customers — list, get, create, and update customer records.
Proposals — list and get proposals (read-only in v1).
Items — list, get, and create catalog items (your products and services).
What to read next
Each endpoint is documented in its own article under this API Reference section, with the exact route, request body, parameters, and response format for that operation.
